Headbands, How I Love Thee

A new Gossip Girl is on tonight, so I celebrated by wearing a headband. Oh how I miss Blair Waldorf circa Season One! I remember spending over $40.00 on a Jennifer Ouellette headband she wore in one of the episodes. Now that I'm broke at college F21 headbands are more realistic for me. But I still love them!

Here's a picture of my room mate Megan and I in our headbands of choice.

Sending Some Love (And Some Candy) 120 Miles Away

One of my best friends is away at school. She goes to Babson University in Massachusetts and I'm here in Connecticut. This year has been pretty rough on me and she would always send me care packages to cheer me up. It was always so nice to see my name posted on the "Packages to Pickup" wall in my dorm. I decided it was time for me to return the favor and I finally got around to making a care package for her!

These are the little gifts I put inside:

This little magnet speaks the truth! I don't know what I would do without my daily chocolate fix.

Jelly beans, Godiva truffles and Citrus Gum Drops. All of these items were found at Trader Joe's, an awesome grocery store which has anything and everything organic.

Can we focus on how cute the packaging for the gumdrops are? White and green polka dots make my inner prep explode with joy.

And finally the greeting card. It's by the company Meri, Meri which makes beautiful, whimsical greeting cards and party favors. The price is a little high ($5.99) but the little details they put on the card makes you feel less guilty for buying it.

I can't wait until she receives it. And I only have two more weeks until all my friends are home for Christmas break!

Local (Coffee) Love

I'm guilty of always choosing to give my business to chain coffee shops (Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts). Tonight my friend Kelly and I decided to go to an actual local coffee lounge. After years of Styrofoam cups to hold my beverage in, it was SO refreshing to sit down and drink my coffee in an actual mug.

Support your local coffee shop! Take a minute to actually sit down and ENJOY your coffee. What a refreshing night.

Here's a picture of Kelly enjoying a delicious hot chocolate in her ceramic mug!

A Connecticut Girl in the South?

My boyfriend Nate (of three years) has been wanting to move to Maryland. His family lives down there and he is renting in Connecticut to stay close to me. I've thought about it, and I've decided to really research living there for a while. I've found some schools that I absolutely LOVE - University of Maryland College Park and Salisbury University.

I've always entertained the thought of living in the South. The town we would live in is similar to the place I'm living now, a beach town. Even though I love Connecticut, I believe it would be a welcome change.

Best Wings in Connecticut

I have to say that Archie Moore's Restaurant is the best place to get wings in all of Connecticut. I've have tried to find a wing place that tops them, but in the two years I have been searching, no one has been able to. There are only five locations, so if you don't live in Connecticut you may have never heard of them. Definitely a place to check out.

The best part of the whole deal is happy hour! From 4:00 to 7:00 during the weekdays, wings are half price. My suite mates and I ordered 49 wings and instead of paying $34.00 we only paid $17.00.

A picture of the wings. Look at the color of the sauce. Can't get any better:

On a funny note, last January during their shipment of sauce, they spilt about 200 gallons of wing sauce on the road! It made national news and they were even mentioned on the Colbert Report.

Here's To Weeknights

Looks like I haven't posted here for a while. I'm busy with a couple of challenging classes this semester. Instead of letting my new home become the library, I have been working on becoming a little more sociable. There's nothing better than heading out with your friends to clear your mind of endless studying.

Here's a picture of Rachael and I at SoCo's, a nice restaurant and getaway that is walking distance from the dorms:

The downside of going out on a weeknight means having to make your morning classes the day after. I can thank my addiction to the campus Dunkin' Donuts for helping me make it through class. I remember talking to the manager of Dunkin' and he said that when they first built the Dunkin' on campus they expected to get a flow of 250 customers a day. But they were sorely mistaken, they get about three times that.

Seems like coffee on campus is an instant cash cow.
